How do you guys and ladies feel about donor insemination?

This is when you get a donor sperm to fertilize the egg.

tough question especially for the father.

I expect that my husband would agree. He always wanted to be a dad. but I think that between adopting and choosing a donor sperm, he would rather do this. At least i would be the mom.

Its a tricky question. I am open to it, but men are usually macho and if you have donor insemination, some of them might feel unmasculine so it is something couples need to think and talk through very carefully.

nope...

I am for donor insemination. Simply because the child would still be your wife's. That would make him ours.

The only thing with donor insemination is that you need to be sure about the donor. he should be screened and have no genetic diseases.

I dunno. I think my hubby wont go for this. He is half-Spanish and they are all mui macho about stuff like this.

He has low motility btw and I have hormonal issues.

Im not sure if I want to undergo donor insemination. It would not be my husband's sperm and if we cant conceive using our egg and sperm, then alternatives like living without a child or adoption would be a better option for.

Donor insemination is a big risk considering that you do not know the donor.

Though it hurts my manly pride not to genetically produce a child with my wife, I think its better if we adopt rather than get donor insemination.

There are just too many risks like genetic defects that you dont know about. With adoption you get a live healthy kid already with medical background (hopefully).

I am OK with it, so long as my wife is too. Just as long as I have a complete medical history of the donor sperm.

No... I want a child that is genetically ours. I would rather adopt than put money on something so risky.

Lainie - September 19th, 2010 2:29 AM

if it is OK with my hubby and if I get full disclosure on the medical history of the guy then I guess I can go for this.

however, the problem is with me since my hubby passed all his tests with flying colors.
