is it true that ivf increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy?

scales - October 25th, 2010 3:55 AM

yes. ive heard that it does. there is a chance that the embryo will implant in the fallopian tubes instead of the uterus.

wow I never knew that you could have ectopic pregnancy with IVF. Do you have figures?

divine - October 26th, 2010 9:32 AM

So, it's not at all safe to have undergo an IVF because it can probably cause you an ectopic pregnancy.

Kenji - October 27th, 2010 3:35 AM

there are always risks involved in any type of treatment.

SuperMom - October 28th, 2010 3:31 AM

Me personally, I would take that risk. You dont know for sure its gonna happen anyway. At least you know that you tried. If you get ectopic pregnancy then there are other treatments avaialable.

Yes and I believe that once you undergo any kinds of treatment you are putting yourself to such risk or even the possibility of enduring it's treatment's side effect.

we have been through an ectopic pregnancy two times and let me tell you that it can be physically and emotionally devastating for a couple TTC.

If you plan on having infertility treatment, both of you need to be very strong emotionally and spiritually.

I agree. It is a risk you have to take. I would rather take that risk if my partner was comfortable with the idea. Its her body that will carry the baby.
