After a careful consideration of all ramifications, following a consultation with the physicians, the husband and wife should make the joint decision as to who should undergo the sterilization procedure. Vasectomy is a lot simpler procedure, and equally effective. However, if the Gynecologist found an intra-abdominal condition in the woman which needs to be explored, tubal ligation might be the choice. Tubal ligation is also done following a Cesarean Section (while the abdomen is still open) when the delivery is the last one desired by the couple. Since there are other medical factors involved, it is best for the couple to discuss this matter in detail with their physicians before hand.

if there might be negative effects in the procedure, just choose the least..

it depends upon the partners or the couple..it depends upon their needs also, their situation..this topic needs to be discussed by them..

in our case, it's my wife who went thru tubal ligation..

well, in us we decided that my husband will be the one to be sterilized coz i'm afraid in tiding my tubes :D

this issue should be discussed first by the partner.. in our case, i was the one who had been sterilized

i am the one who was sterilized with vasectomy coz this is a lot simpler procedure and equally effective. Also, i don't want my wife to be stress on this matter...

the best thing to do in this "is talk to each other". For me, if i were this case i should prefer taht i will be the one to be sterilized so that i'll be the only one affected if there are negative effects.

in my own opinion, i prefer the female to be sterilized like tubal ligation coz she still have chances to become pregnant again, while if vasectomy for man this is permanent..

the male coz they are musculine, for sure they are not scared and must willing to take the risk ..lol
