I always thought that stillbirths were babies born dead. But it would make sense that they were spontaneously aborted or miscarried since the mother wasnt able to carry to term.

Stillbirth may have a similar meaning to miscarriage but it is actually used in a different case. They are distinct in that stillbirth refers to loss after 24 months, while miscarriage is to loss before 24 months into the pregnancy. They are not used interchangeably.
