about having sex one or two days before ovulation has a higher percentage of success than having sex on the ovulation day itself.. why do you think this is?

i think this is because there is a deposit of sperm already present. depending on a woman's age egg can only live around 24 hours in the uterus. this gets shorter as she ages.

I like your theory Kenji. Since the sperm is now there, all it has to do is to fertilize the egg.

Won't the sperms die sooner than is necessary for it to reach the ovulation day in this case? What is the life span of the sperms while in a woman, has anybody check this out? I really think it doesn't work that way.

Sperm can live up to 5 days inside the womb.

Sperm live up to 5 days but the egg can only live between 12-24 hours. It is imprtant to get as much sperm inside the cervix as possible so that the egg can be fertilized right away.
