If you are young and not planning a family yet, make sure that you are screened for PID or pelvic inflamatory disease. PID is one of the factors which cause infertility in women especially when not treated.

PID is STD right?

My first time was in Highschool during the senior prom (very typical - I know!) I was so nervous I forgot to tell the guy to use a condom.

I could not sleep for almost 3 weeks after that thinking that I was either pregnant or had STD. Immediately after my period I went to the local women's center for a blood test. It came out negative, but after that I carried a condom with me and used it if I wasn't in a long term relationship.

I think we should all be wise and protect ourselves from all forms of STD. A condom should always be around except when you are ready for a comittment or a family.

OMG!!!

How many kids remember to put on a condom! It would be OK if you and your partner were virgins, but then there would be the risk of pregnancy!

Oh and my first time was sophomore year in college... BF wore a condom but years later I had a one night stand and was stupid. I had to get morning after pill and then blood tests too for STD. STupid stupid...

No STD but the one night stand without condom was very traumatic experience for me!

I too had to undergo blood test for STD a long time ago when I suspected chlamydia. I was positive but with antibiotics I am fit as a fiddle.

when i disclosed this to my RE we had a checkup and said I had no tubal damages due to the STd.

but yes STD screening is a must!

yap, it's good that even you are still young, you have undergo a check-up like PID screening to make sure you are free all that concerns about infertility problems.

Just asking..is that test for STD not too risky or probably painful? I want my youngest sister try to have it..but she's very much afraid.

STD test is just through blood test. After that there will be a visual test to confirm the results from the blood test.

PID is a vague term and can be refer to a viral , fungal, parasitic but most often, it is caused by bacterial infection.

jobelyn - September 29th, 2010 12:04 PM

Is PID alarming ? what about if it's not treated immediately or you haven't had it screened as early as possible..can this mean you will suffer infertility problem for life?
