It is studied that fifty percent of men who are over 50 have some degree of erctile dysfunction (ED). When it happens, silence is often the first reaction. A woman begins to blame herself, thinking she's not turning him on. He, on the other hand, thinks the unthinkable: that there could be something wrong with his masculinity.

Fertility in both men and women is age related. Even though we hear of males who are able to father kids even at their senior years, ED during this age is quite common.

Another factor to consider of ED at this age is the medications used by the male. Medicine for hypertension, diabetes and heart disease can cause ED.

there are changes that can help many men ward off full-blown erectile dysfunction: kick the smoking habit. It weakens the heart and the arteries that bring blood to the penis, lose weight. Excessive weight is associated with diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure-all of which can cause vascular problems.

Low sex drive is common once we age. Our bodies are not just how they used to be when we were younger. We have to accept these things as they are nature's course.

This is normal in men and women. As we age our libidos get weaker. This is nature's way.

During our 50's women have menopause, our joints creak and we are simply getting older. This is something we have to accept.

The degree of the erection of the penis? For me it all depends upon the physical situation of the certain person.

candyKane - September 5th, 2010 3:11 AM

This is just nature's way of making sure that the seniors don't break their bones while doing it... LOL.

Seriously, this is nature's way of ensuring that our race evolves. Sperm and egg decrease in quality at this age.

Lainie - September 9th, 2010 3:12 AM

In males, its ED. in Women its menopause. I would say that nature is trying to tell us something when we're in our 50's and that's reproduction time is over.

One of the reasons for ED is age. As males grow older, testosterone levels decrase which leads to ED.

This is why some old guys take Viagra.

Before anything else, remember that guys over 50 have declining testosterone levels, so ED is quite normal in males this age. its nature's way.
