What is Chron's disease and why does it affect fertility?

Keith - June 30th, 2010 3:44 AM

Chron's disease can reduce fertility. One example is the inflammation in the colon which directly involving the fallopian tubes or ovaries may decrease infertility.

isnt this the same as irritable bowel syndrome? but the colon is far away from the fallopian tubes? will the inflamation spread there?

sulfasalazine which is used to treat Chron's disease can decrease sperm count. this is one of the risks of using this medicine although it is a universally accepted treatment in both men and women.
