how do you choose the right ART for you?

olivia - September 15th, 2010 3:40 AM

there are lots of factors to consider:

1. cost
2. physical condition of the reproductive organs
3. availability of the procedure in your area

these are just some of the stuff you need to think about when you are looking for alternatives to help you get pregnant.

I agree with the cost. Ai is cheaper than IVF but does not work for everybody. Also in my case, the nearest RE is two hours away so another consideration.

there are lots of factors to be considered but we must face the reality, that in every cure of the defects can cause lots of money.

Hello, may I know what's an Ar technique?

KIT - September 17th, 2010 12:40 AM

AR Technique = Artificial Reproductive Technique like IVF, Gift, Zift and AI.

Cost is always number one for me. It can be expensive as it costs $12000 per IVF cycle here! Its covered by insurance but it still pinches the wallet!

Chloe88 - September 17th, 2010 4:23 PM

Its cost for me as i have limited coverage on fertility medication and procedure on my insurance. So it is the biggest factor for me which is why I love all natural forms of treatments and I always make it a point to do reasearch and to try them when I am able to.

We had AI due to low motility on my part and we are also looking into IVF because until now, AI is still not successful.

IVF is more expensive that's why we wanted to try the not so expensive ones first.

NadineChoo - September 19th, 2010 2:31 AM

Zift is more expensive than IVF and IVF is more expensive than AI...

Cost is always a big issue, regardless or not if it is covered with insurance since you have to pay for participation and also there are other expenses like gas, your time, reading materials etc that has to come out of pocket.

for me, i should consult to an expert first on what technique that best fits for me and make a decision. This should be performed after extensive counseling. Because i had read from Professor Manuel Carrapato and
Dr. Hugo Verhoeven conversation about ART it shows that there are effects to the mother and most especially to the fetus.
