Hello everybody,

I am curious and forgive me if I have posted at the wrong section.

Are these 2 kinds of doctors the same, only different in words used, or do they differ in practice and specialty? If they are different, what is a more appropriate sounding medical term for a doctor who specializes in infertility. :]

The 2 may be similar but not the same.

Fertility specialists or Reproductive Endocrinologist is not the same as a Gynecologist. The former undergoes more years (about two to three years training in infertility, reproductive endocrinology, and reproductive surgery) in experience to become one, not to mention, must be board certified.

Thanks for making that clear. I have a follow up question. Are all Reproductive Endocrinologists OB/GYN? If they share the same field but the former is more specialized, shouldn't they be, by default, OB/GYNs?
