Can women who are diabetic & insulin dependent get pregnant naturally or through assisted reproduction?

is it safe for the woman and her future child?

For me, it is not, because it might make the fetus, 'if ever there is", having deformities. But to think that the mother has undergo the treatment of diabetes, this might impossible for her to conceive.

Its hard for women with diabetes to get pregnant. Not only because of the high risk pregnancy but to the baby as well. Gestational diabetis can also be passed to the baby while pregnant.

The problem with diabetis is that it compounds other problems like heart disease. Also, the medication from diabetis also causes low libido in men and women.

My female cousin and insulin dependent was adviced by doctors not to get pregnant as the pregnancy can strain her body and interfere with her medications.

It is not impossible for a diabetic woman to get pregnant. however her pregnancy is usually classified as high risk. So this is a personal decision for the couple.

Type 1 or insulin dependent women can get pregnant but she has to be under strict medical care.

There are obese women who are diabetic and still manage to bear healthy children. I guess with everything else, it needs good timing and doctor's guidance.

I agree with Gizelle. It is a high risk pregnancy and women need constant monitoring especially at the later stage of the pregnancy.

It is possible that the diabetic woman may conceive in a situation that she may be careful of her health and with the help of the doctor, an obstetrician who is specializing in the processes and cure of diseases before, during, and after pregnancy.
