is there anyone here knows what causes endometriosis to develop??? i'm really scared about this..

Mamasgirl - April 14th, 2011 10:15 AM

due to genetic predisposition to endometriosis that is passed down through generations and makes some women more susceptible than others to this condition.

"retrograde menstruation"..this is where blood flows backwards into the fallopian tubes during a period causing endometrial tissue to implant outside the uterus.

Ella_Mae - April 14th, 2011 10:30 AM

one important cause is too much exposure to environmental toxins. One Example of this is dioxin...

An immune dysfunction... which means that some women's bodies are unable to block the growth of endometrial tissue outside the womb.

do you know how endometriosis diagnosed?

c_linda - April 14th, 2011 11:02 AM

it?s recommended that you keep a diary of your symptoms for at least three months if you think you are suffering from this, so that your doctor can see patterns in the discomfort you're experiencing and has a more solid platform from which to begin diagnosis.

edith - April 14th, 2011 11:08 AM

the diagnosis is likely to begin with a physical examination and is often followed with an ultrasound scan to check for cysts.

coolMOMMY - April 14th, 2011 11:56 AM

as i learned, that the only certain way to diagnose endometriosis is with a laparoscopy.

me_me - April 14th, 2011 12:03 PM

endometriosis is diagnosed thru laparoscopy. This involves keyhole surgery where an examination of the internal abdominal organs is performed using a microscopic camera.

Aleeyah8 - April 14th, 2011 12:23 PM

Laparoscopies are usually performed under general anesthetic but tend only to be an outpatient operation. Where endometriosis is diagnosed it is possible to administer treatment during the same procedure however your doctor will discuss this with you before surgery.
