What are the numbers on cases of appendicitis during pregnancy? How life-threatening is this to the mother and the baby inside? Is appendicitis genetic or hereditary? Both my parents have had their appendice removed already. My dad's cousin and my mom's sister too. It seems to be in the family. I am afraid of having it while in the middle of a pregnancy.

IIRC it is 1 out of 2000 pregnant women suffer appendicitis while pregnant. These are only reported cases. Out of 100 women who have ruptured appendicitis, 4 will die. About 1 out of 3 babies will die due to delayed diagnosis and treatment of appendicitis during pregnancy.

There is no way appendicitis is hereditary. The count for appendicitis cases would be very high.
