If a guy had STD example herpes, is he able to pass this to his child when getting a woman pregnant?

the man who has herpes would infect the woman when they have sex. when the child is born he would then contract the virus through his mother. with syphilis babies infected inside the womb could die.

STD is all bad news...

std like HIV can also infect the unborn child and make him HIV positive once he is born. it's a cycle... look at Africa.

There is congenital (meaning from birth) syphillis. HIV is known to be passed on to the child from the mother.

Herpes on the other hand may or may not be transmitted to the child. It is a low risk accdg. to studies. There are several cases where the virus is transmitted to the infant during birth, but not before. Again, it is a rare case.

For other STDs that are minor, the child may be safe from getting these from the father/mother.
