How do the scrotal muscles help maintain temperature homeostasis of the testes?

perhaps it keeps them at the optimum temperature of 1 degree lower than the body temp. anything higher or lower than this, then sperm production can be hampered.

The scrotum which produces a temperature about 3 degree centigrade, lower is necessary for the production of healthy sperms.

The scrotal muscles are needed to maintain temperature by raising or lowering the testes to be the appropriate temperature.

This is an interesting question!

Sperm do best at temperatures slightly below the temperature of the body. This is why the testes are located outside of the abdomen. The scrotal muscles tense and relax to control the distance of the testes from the body. If it is colder they will pull the testes closer to take advantage of body heat. If it gets hotter they will relax to allow the testes to get further from the warmth of the body. Hope this helps!

The scrotal muscles elevate the testes in cold temperatures, to bring them towards the body which warms them. In hot temperatures, they are descended away from the warm body core.
