what do you think as surrogacy as the last resort? nicole kidman had a baby through this option.

Nowadays, some people would resort to pay surrogate mother especially to those who are unable to give birth. For me, resorting to this option is okay. But i don't think so if the church especially to the Roman Catholic would agree to this option. A surrogate mother may suffer great pain emotionally since she was the one who gives birth to the child but after all she will just hand over the baby to the one who owns or payed for it.

Forgive me, but religion should adapt to the changing times. Sometimes I think there "rules" are too antiquated it becomes impractical these days. At times it becomes harmful too. I do not intend to insult.

Let us take for example overpopulation in a country where 80% of the people are poorest to the poor. These people cannot even feed themselves 3 square meals a day. Then religion comes in where they have strong influence on these uneducated people, telling them not to use contraceptives because it is a sin. These poor people reproduce like crazy, hence the overpopulation problem. But no, the church is more concerned of the evils of condoms and pills. In the end both sides (church and people) are losing.

Hi Keira,

That is your opinion. Who cares about overpopulation and who cares about religion? I don't. And this is my opinion. Ella_Mae is Catholic, that is her problem. Let us stick to the topic shall we?

With regards to surrogacy, it is a tough decision. Finding the right surrogate mother is hard. Ever seen the movie Juno? The things portrayed in that movie - although fiction and the protagonist role wasn't a surrogate case - is almost similar to what will happen if you choose the path of surrogacy.

If I could afford it like Nicole then I would go for it. However it has to be my egg and my husband's sperm. Otherwise there's no point for me in doing this.

spot on! there is no point calling it surrogacy if it weren't, and it would be called adoption then. :)
