say you want to do an AI with your hubby's sperm. does the person selecting the sperm follow any guidelines?

Yes, i think guidelines is also part of the procedures.It's a serious process that's why I think strict guidelines is needed to know if it comes from a good donor.

this is one of the issues of AI and IVF. If we follow the process of natural selection, then most of the human race is the product of the best egg and the best sperm. but with IVF there is human intervention.

I dont know about the guidelines of clinics but I am told that selection is usually done by picking out a perfectly shaped sperm that has good motility.

Im sure that the lab only does this to increase fertiliziation chances. If they got the weak sperm then it would be a waste of time and money.

i agree. while i am for the let nature take its course thing, in assited reproduction, you have to give it a hand because of the success rates.

so long as they choose the strongest handsomest looking sperm is fine by me!
