Yes, it's very important. Actually there are two types of iron in the diet. One is ,haem iron which is the easiest of the two types for the body to absorb (between 20-30% is absorbed). Meat is one of the sources. |

chicken and fish belongs to haem iron. Non-haem iron is the second type, which comes from plant sources like wholegrain breads and cereals (especially fortified breakfast cereals). Non-haem absorption is 5% or less, considerably lower than haem iron. |
