Anyone familiar with IVig (intravenous immunoglobulin) therapy?

SlimJim - September 5th, 2010 2:25 AM

i've read about this but all I know is that it is given to women as treatment when they have unexplained miscarriages.

I am not sure how it is linked to infertility except for the miscarriage.

maybe it will decrease miscarriage rate?

I never thought it can help with this sort of thing. I thought it was treatment for autoimmune disease to increase their plasma count or something like that.

I think this type of treatment is used to increase blood supply so as not to have miscarriage. Not sure on this though.

This IVig therapy is given to women who are prone to miscarriages. This is because their bodies recognize the embryo as a foreign object and attacks it.

IVIg aids minimize the killer cells which prevent the embryo to implant.

so its like an auto immune response to possible attackers to the body.

this is bad if it recognizes the egg or sperm as unfriendly. you would definetely have a hard time getting knocked up.

I think there's a name for that Kimberly that I read here. Something immune auto body something.... hahaha...

Perhaps they are related in some way to this IVig.

wait...is this given before a miscarriage to prevent one or after to prevent future ones? Im not making sense, am I? =(
