what about medicare? does it cover fertility treatments?

j@n@ - September 20th, 2010 3:48 AM

I dont think MediCare covers for IVF. There are some details they cover like room and board at the hospital, some medicines and doctor's fees. But for the procedure itself, you will need private insurance for that one.

Aetna and Cigna are huge companies with international branches and subsidiaries. You should look for a reputable insurance co to make sure that your needs are met and that they can deliver.

Are these companies really covered everything that's needed for the treatment? What's the requirements?

I think if I belong to these kinds of companies..I will surely grab the opportunities of having a fertility treatment. But sad to say my companies don't have it.

to Geraldine:

Where do you live? There are states that require their insurance agencies to cover infertility treatments. If your state requires and your insurance company refuses to cover you, then you can go after them.

we have a local one but they have been great in covering our fertility expenses so far! the premiums are OK too.

Fred_Flintstone - October 23rd, 2010 3:28 AM

make sure that you pay your premiums in a timely manner. some insurance companies will not cover treatment if you dont pay your premiums on time.
