When should a HCG shot be taken?

SJ23 - August 26th, 2010 3:15 AM

HCG shot is given to stimulate the ovaries to release the egg. If Im not mistaken this is usually before an artificial insemenation.

Once you are ready for AI then HCG shot is given in order to stimulate ovaries to releasing the egg. This is done a couple of days before the procedure.

this is usually administered prior to Intrauterine Insemenation.

HCG shot is scheduled before but it is usually around 12-14 shots so around 2 weeks before the predicted ovulation date.

HCG is usually given weeks before AI. If i remember correctly it is around 12 shots. 1 shot everyday in the woman's butt or stomach.

This is to encourage ovary stimulation and that there will be an egg released before the woman is artificially inseminated.

This is the one before ovulation to encourage ovulation right? I've forgotten what these different meds are for! There are so many and for different purposes!

A lot of shots given? I think HCG shots is so expensive. If I tried this, how sure are you that this would give me a successful result?

to heatherlyn

No treatment is 100% effective. Also not all people are able to take the same treatment methods. Usually older women will be given HCG shots compared to younger women who will be given Clomid. This is a matter of getting the best option treatment in order to address a specific reason for infertility.
