How many eggs are retrived during an egg retrieval procedure?

As many as the woman is able to produce. Women's ovaries are stimulated so that eggs can be harvested. If she produces a lot of eggs then she can have lots of chances of getting pregnant through IVF.

this depends on how many follicles were able to produce the eggs. the more mature follicles, the more eggs can be harvested. The more eggs, usually the better.

As many as the woman can produce. She is usually given ovulation stimulants so that the doctor can harvest more and save time and cost on the whole procedure.

My wife had 8 eggs retrieved. Some of her follicles were too small to produce mature eggs.

It depends upon the woman's ability to have eggs she may produce. Then after it, there is a retrieval of eggs which to have a chance to become fertilized.

during one cycle I had 21 eggs retrieved but only 16 were fertilized and I got zero on that cycle. another time, I had 16 retrieved and 10 were fertilized. Again, zero.

My doctor told me I have 7 follicles, which is OK by their standards and low for me.

To Kit 8 eggs in one cycle is not so bad. Also, small follicles tend to yield fewer eggs, so this is the reason why only 8 were harvested.

A good egg retrieval may obtain 10 to 20 eggs. An egg retrieval typically takes 15-20 minutes.
