Which is better?

lawrence - September 14th, 2010 3:35 AM

sorry but isnt icsi a procedure before ai?

Jester - September 16th, 2010 2:42 AM

Me too. ICSI is a process of washing the sperm before it is used for AI. So AI success needs good ICSI.

I think this should be IVF VS AI. If it is cost then AI wins as it is waaaaaay cheaper than IVF. Almost both have the same success rate.

I agree. Perhaps helene meant IVF vs AI.

It depends because if cost then AI wins. if it is probability of success then it also depends on other factors like age of the mother. so for me there is no clear winner between the two.

If it is IVF VS AI then I would want to go with AI first as it is cheaper compared to IVF. In my state, it costs $1000 compared to IVF which costs $1000 per cycle!

In ICSI a single sperm is injected directly to the egg and then implanted to the womb. In AI or IUI washed sperm is injected directly into the uterus via a catether. they are different forms of ART.

As to success rate, there are factors to consider like age, the clinic and the physical condition of both patients.
