How true is it that vegetarian women are more likely to have a hard time getting pregnant than women who eat meat?

supermom - June 7th, 2010 8:46 PM

i think it is because eating protein rich food helps us to ovulate and protein is found in meat and milk. but there is nothing wrong with being vegetarian, it is still healthy.

I think it depends if you the woman have already have a health issue on fertility that's why she can't conceive naturally. It might also be that her vegetable diet may be wrong for the purposes of procreation.

Vegetarians usually lack a lot of minerals because they focus on vegetables and fruits. They are usually deficient on calcium or protein which is important when you want to get pregnant.

If you want to get pregnant, eat all kinds of food and not just vegetables. Yes they are healthy but I agree with Glynda that they are not complete in all the necessary vitamins and minerals the body needs to have in optimum in order to get pregnant.

I don't believe in such a thing. Vegetables have no side effects, it's good for the body and for our health. So, having a hard time getting pregnant, I think it's because of other health reason.

Oh...it is not a good idea to blame of being a vegetarian is one of the reason why you are not able to conceive, that as a matter of fact a cow can conceive and it propagate even its food only grasses and vegetables!

I think that aside from the calcium deficiency, they also lack lysine which is an important mineral as it helps with our brain function. This is just some of the downside to becoming vegetarian. Why not eat all kinds of food but keep it in a healthy and balanced level?
