Is it possible to have a normal menstrual cycle but not ovulate?

missybonbon - August 28th, 2010 11:00 PM

Yes. Menstrual cycle involves the thickening and the shedding of the endometriuim layer. It is possible to have a normal cycle but not have ovulation for various reasons.

Absolutely. Menstruation is not equivalent to ovulation.

Normally, female adolescents is the time that the woman starts her menstrual cycle, but it does not guarantee that she can be able to ovulate, not all women can ovulate. that is why some women may not able to get pregnant. It is a type of reproductive organ that do things well.

yes, menstration does not mean ovulation. though they are related, they are different processes.

They are related but not necessarily the same. One invloves uterine thickening and shedding while the other pertains to the release of the egg.

The uterus can become thick but the ovary can not relaease an egg. They are two separate organs that need to cooperate in order for a woman to be able to get pregnant.

I never knew this. I thought you menstrate to get rid of the egg. but now I see that you can menstrate to shed lining but not necessarily because there is an egg.

Good post.

Yes. As I understand these two are quite different. Menstration involves the shedding of the uterine walls while ovulation is the release of the egg. Although both are necessary for getting pregnant, one does not necessarily mean that the other has taken place.
