We are worried for a friend who is having cyclical yeast infections for the last 5 years. Will this affect her fertility?

heatherlyn - July 10th, 2010 12:49 AM

I think so..because as far as I know most women got yeast infection because of taking birth control. So probably, your friend is taking birth control pills also and yes, it can also affect her fertility.

repeated infections can be a sign that something is not right in the reproductive area. if yeast is recurring maybe she is getting immune to the anti fungal medication given her.

I'm afraid it can affect her fertility, but I'm not so sure. It is only in my own analysis, you can seek an advice from an expert for the sake of your friend.

Isnt yeast an STD? How dangerous is this in terms of not only female infertility but male as well?

You mean it is recurring? This is bad. Yeast infections may be a sign of a weak immune system. This should be cured by antibiotics already during the first few cycles.

Yes lawrence Yeast infection can be an STD, although there are instances wherein the body produces it to combat irritation or when the vaginal flora changes.

this sounds weird. why wont she get well? does she have a weak immune system? this is very concerning.
