A congenital syndrome called androgen insensitivity, a disorder among women with the same XY chromosome makeup as men. But androgen insensitivity makes them completely unable to respond to the male hormone testosterone. As a result, they have breast and vaginas. The uterus and ovaries are not developed and have testes concealed within the groin...

I don't understand I thought this was a disorder in WOMEN... so it would naturally follow that they would have breasts and viagina. The difference is that they have testicles???

Is this hermaphroditism?

marcy - August 28th, 2010 6:18 AM

I think in hermaphroditism you actually get the two sets of sex organs. In this one I think the testes is concealed.

But that's just a guess coming from the above posts... I'm definetely no expert! :D

I've known this kind of congenital syndrome. The woman who have this, lacks important sex organs that make reproduction possible. Without a developed ovary, she can never produce egg cells. Without a uterus, she can never bear a child. Her undeveloped testes cannot produce sperm cells because they are not fully developed either.

so it is hermaphroditism then?

EMZ - September 6th, 2010 3:25 AM

does it matter if it is hermaphroditism or not?

important thing is, how can it be cured? or is it cureable in the first place?

GerlyMe - September 6th, 2010 2:59 PM

This is a kind of inability to reproduce and it is inborn.

MarkDeen - September 8th, 2010 11:57 AM

It can not be cured because it is an inborn disorder.Only she/he can excel to sports due to her above normal function of her hormone.

many traits are influenced by changes inside our body. This influence is observed in the phenotype of the organism..Age is one factor that can affect the expression of the trait.
