What is an anti-thyroid antibody and how does it affect fertility?

raquel_q - September 5th, 2010 3:23 AM

This has something to do with the reason why a woman frequently suffers from miscarriages. As we all know, miscarriage can be very frustrating and painful especially if you are TTC.

really? so how do you develop this anti-thyroid antibody?

Sonja - September 6th, 2010 3:57 AM

i think this is genetic or you are born with this type of disorder. maybe it is also a hormone imbalnce?

Helene_W - September 9th, 2010 3:14 AM

so if you have too much antithyroid antibodies you miscarry frequently/cant carry to term?

RamsesIII - September 10th, 2010 3:55 AM

There has been evidence that high levels of anti-thyroid antibody can cause fertility problems in women. To rule out this prospective problem, women need to under go a test.

Perhaps this is a defficiency in the thyroid gland in the production of hormone specifically progesterone.

Women with low progesterone are usually prone to losing their baby or being unable to carry to term.

It can really affect fertility , it is because the coordination inside our bodies, has already set-up. And this included the reproductive organs.

It can make fertilization impossible. But to be safe it is better to consult it to the doctor.
