Can anemia cause infertility?

Dino - June 26th, 2010 5:28 PM

yes. low blood levels can damage or "starve" the reproductive organs. more blood down there means healthy eggs and sperm.

I don't think so. Because I have known a lot of friends who are anemic but still they were able to give birth or they all get pregnant.

Anemia can cause infertility. If you are deficient in red blood cells and iron, then you're eggs will quickly deteriorate in quality.

You will still get pregnant but with vitamin deficiencies associated with anemia, it can be hard on your body and on the health of your baby.

I agree. Anemic people are not just deficient in blood but also lots of other minerals and vitamins as well! but on the otherhand I know of a woman who was severly anemic and got pregnant... so maybe case to case?

Yes, it does. Being anemic can cause infertility that's why you should provide yourself with lots of iron supplements to prevent this kind of problem.
