Oysters & More - Male Fertility Diet Recommendations
Many articles focus on natural fertility ideas and dietary recommendations for fertility. The focus, most of the time, however, is on women. These articles give women recommendations for changes that they can make to their diets and to their lifestyles. Little focus has been offered to changes that men can make even though there are natural suggestions for foods and lifestyle changes that men can use to help with infertility.
What NOT to Do
First, we'll focus on the things that you should not be doing to help your fertility chances. Alcohol and marijuana use are definitely not recommended for men who hope to get their partners pregnant. Alcohol can decrease sperm count and motility. The more you drink, the more this may be the case. You should also try to avoid coffee as it may lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of sperm. Marijuana has been found to slow sperm down, making it less likely that the sperm will reach and penetrate the egg. Finally, avoid fish with large quantities of mercury.
What TO Do
Zinc is very important for sperm production and strength. This is why you may have heard that men should eat oysters to up their virility. There is actually some truth to this, as oysters are loaded with zinc. If you don't like the fishy foods of this sort, however, you can get zinc in lean beef, wheat germ and dark-meat turkey. Ask your doctor about other zinc-rich foods as well. Make sure that you are getting enough Vitamin C, as this can increase your sperm count and motility of the sperm. Take Vitamin C tables or make sure that you eat Vitamin C rich foods such as oranges, strawberries and citrus juices. Enjoy your tomatoes and tomato sauces. These foods are rich in lycopene which is said to get rid of free oxygen radicals. Free oxygen radicals are one of the main causes of male infertility. If you can't stomach tomato products, then take a lycopene supplement. Finally, look into taking certain herbs that are supposed to help with fertility. Many Chinese herbs, including ginsens, saw palmetto, astral Gus and macaw are said to increase sperm count. Some of these herbs are quite powerful, so make sure to talk to an herb specialist, a nutritionist or your doctor before taking any herbs.
In addition to these recommendations, it is always good to get plenty of exercise and to try to keep your stress levels to a minimum. Exercise for at least half an hour a day. Get plenty of sleep and try to relax as much as possible. Hopefully, with all of these natural recommendations for fertility, you'll be bouncing a baby on your lap soon enough. It is certainly worth trying these ideas before resorting to medical testing and intervention. The bad cocaine effects on the body are even more magnified if the user is with child.
When an alcoholic becomes pregnant, her friends and loved ones are encouraged to do their best to get her help. Good luck!
